MAC played and sang in a
local group back in the 60's but work and family put music on hold for many
years. In the 90's MAC took vocal coaching and then sang with a Big Band
in Bristol. He performed at various venues including the Winter Gardens in
Weston-Super-Mare for New Years Eve. He also guested with various
cabaret artists at various hotels and clubs around the Bristol area.
After moving to Torbay, MAC decided in 2006 to strike out
on his own. He now performs on a regular basis at Hotels, Clubs, Holiday Camps and Regattas throughout the South Devon Area. He has performed live on local radio on several occasions.
MAC performs jazz, swing and easy listening vocals
originated by such great artists as Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin
and Tony Bennett etc. He is not an impersonator, but does sing songs
in the style of the original artists.
MAC invites his audiences to sing along and welcomes
requests. He throws in a few contrasting numbers for fun such as 'Any
Dream Will Do' and She Wears Red Feathers. He can get theatrical by
donning a top hat, picking up a silver top cane and then performing Frankie
Vaughan's 'Gimme the Moonlight' complete with the high kicks. It's all
just for fun yet there's no denying the quality of the voice. You get
an evening of Rat Pack combined with a few of the great British singers such
as Monro, Newley and Vaughan.
Mac can also perform a set of quiet jazz numbers, suitable
for background music over dinners and luncheons with such songs as 'Cest si
bon', 'Baubles bangles and beads', 'Quiet nights of quiet stars' plus a laid
back swing version of 'What a wonderful world'.
He can move on to more lively numbers if the evening
warrants it an does a good job of some Buddy Hollies, Tony Christie,
The Mavericks and many more.
MAC is always smartly attired in a dark suit or black or
white tuxedo plus bow tie. He has an easy going charm and a laid back
style to his performances.
